Elley & Luke
Our Love Story
Our is a story all about timing. Luke and I actually met through mutual friends years ago in 2010 at a music festival. There was certainly a spark, but it wasn't meant to be. Fast forward to nearly 10 years later and we crossed paths at the same mutual friend's wedding. This time there was no looking back. We immediately connected, sharing a love of live music, taking on DIY projects, sport and spending time with friends, but most of all pizza, red wine and board games on a quiet night in. Together we have shared dreams and aspirations including building a new home together in Geelong, seeing the world and one day starting a family together.
The Day
Our day was perfect! The weather gods were on our side, the sun peeked through the clouds right as the ceremony began.
There were so many highlights besides promising to spend the rest of our lives together; we danced the night away with friends, enjoyed a quiet moment with family. We enjoyed the amazing food and service from Truffleduck.
Our little niece Edie was the flower girl, she made it halfway down the aisle and came to a halt. Luke had to go up the aisle to pick her up and carry her the rest of the way and help her toss the flowers out of her basket..melt your heart material.
When standing at the alter, Luke leans in and whispers to me, "Did you notice that's not Tom and Georgia on the music?" I definitely did not, Luke had kept it under wraps that Tom had called him the day before to tell him he was stuck in Canada. He organised his friends, Richard and Tara, to step in and they were seamless, I was amazed and Luke had saved me from an almost certain panic attack.
The surprises didn't finish there, Luke had been very coy about his wedding band, concealing all details from me in the lead up to the wedding. I was certain he was going to have a tattoo on his finger but no, I had guessed wrong. Our celebrant, Jo, began telling a story about one of our early trips away together (I'm thinking, this is not part of the ceremony script!?). While we were away camping at a tiny house in Avoca, Luke had collected a piece of fallen red gum, unbeknownst to me, he hid it away in the shed upon our return with the idea of one day making a wedding ring out of it, safe to say I was blown away. I was handed a beautiful wooden ring to place on his finger.
We headed out for a quiet moment as newlyweds to dog rocks with Jake (our photographer) and Ellena (our videographer) for a quick shoot between the ceremony and reception. We really cherished that opportunity to be away from the busyness of the day to enjoy a peaceful moment together as well as get some beautiful pictures and film.
