Alison & Fletch
Our Love Story

Our friends Ellen and Jack (lovingly known as Jellen) introduced us and planted the seed at their own wedding recovery. They told me (Ali) that Fletch thought I was beautiful and told me how great he was. After some cheeky DM's on Insta, a date was set up the weekend after Jellen's wedding. Another date followed and then we basically spent every weekend together from there. Fletch did not hide his feelings from me, he made me feel special from day one. Having mutual friends meant we fitted into each other's lives seamlessly. We spend a lot of time along the Great Ocean Road and we're about to move to Ocean Grove and renovate our dream house with a big backyard for our mini schnauzer Ernie.
Fletch completely surprised me with the proposal. We were in Lorne (our happy place), and he managed to get up me to Teddy's Lookout for a walk before dinner (with the help of his parents and a totally made-up story. The sun was setting and next minute he was down on one knee, saying non-coherent but lovely things. I was in total shock and over the moon at the same time. He'd designed a beautiful ring and had been planning for months. I had absolutely no idea and it couldnt have been more perfect. We haven't stopped smiling since.
The Day

Our day was magical. We wanted it to be very 'us' and making our family and friends feel loved and special was super important to us. Having everyone we loved together in the one place was so exciting for us. Looking back at everyone during the ceremony and taking it all in was absolute bliss.
We wanted to get married around gum trees and the ocean. Ali is from a small country town called Deni and Fletch is a surfer from Ocean Grove. We wanted a bit of both of us in the venue. Terdinah was just perfect.
We had our beautiful celebrant Emma get everyone to take a selfie before I walked down the aisle, and text it to us. We woke up the next day with 100's of photos of our loved ones which was hilarious!
I met my best friends in the reception for a hug and a glass of bubbles before I walked down the aisle. Seeing the beautiful tables all set up, getting a hug from my besties and sharing lots of happy tears was just the best feeling. And THEN I got to go marry my best friend. Can't get any better than that!
We surprised our mums to be our witnesses during the ceremony, we wanted them to feel extra special and this was a beautiful way to include them (they also did a toast with our dads and my mum walked me down the aisle with dad).
We wrote handwritten love letters on the back of everyone's place cards. There was so much love in the room by the time everyone had sat down, and so many friends mentioned how special it was, so it was so worth the time this took.
We placed tambourines down the centre of the tables which got everyone boogying in their seats early on. We wanted fun vibes from the get-go and they were a hit on the d-floor! We also named our tables after our favourite places instead of numbers for a special touch and to honour the places we've grown up/visit regularly, and now where we call home together.
At sunset, the lovely staff at Terindah/Truffleduck took us in a buggy down to a private beach. Just the two of us (and our photographer and videographer Liz and John). This was the most memorable part of the day. We popped a bottle of bubbles and took our shoes off and walked on the beach, talked about each other's vowels, how happy we were and just soaked it all up.
